A rare day off the farm can only mean one thing...

A rare day off the farm can only mean one thing... going to look at other people's farm animals! 🤣

Today took us to the Yorkshire Show, where we admired plenty of sheep, discovered what felt like an entire county's worth of cheese, and wandered around enough machinery to keep any farmer daydreaming for weeks.

There were horses, cattle, and every bit of kit you could imagine. We also took the opportunity to have a proper look at some equipment we're thinking of getting for our cows. It's always good to see things in the flesh before taking the plunge.

And yes... before you ask... we absolutely stopped to see the goats. We couldn't possibly walk past them. Loyalty to Team Goat comes first! 🐐

The icing on the cake was bumping into a friend we hadn't seen in a while, making a lovely day out even better.

Now it's back to reality tomorrow, with goat experiences starting again. We still have a little availability next week, so if you're feeling the need for a goat cuddle, a brush, and a bucket of veggies, we'd love to welcome you to the farm.

Yep, it's Penguin.

Our tiny goat with a very big personality has decided it's time for a recharge.

Penguin absolutely loves a good nap... and sometimes she even adds a little sleepy gurgle to her dreams. We can only imagine she's dreaming about her next big adventure, her next snack, or which goat she's going to challenge next!

But why does she nap so much?

Well, goats love a snooze. A little rest here and there keeps them happy and healthy. But for Penguin, it's a little more important...

You see, when you're a tiny goat who believes every goat, big or small, is a worthy opponent, you need to keep those batteries topped up!

Those headbutting, confidence-filled, "I may be small but I run the place" batteries don't recharge themselves.

So sleep well, Penguin.

The herd needs you fully powered. 🐐⚡

Another week ticked off, so it's time for our Sunday roundup from behind the barn door. 🐐🌾

It's been a busy one, with a little bit of everything thrown in!

Me and Brian even managed to sneak away for a cheeky night together. Brian had his very first T-bone steak and, judging by the grin on his face, I think it's safe to say he'll be ordering another one! 🥩

As for me... horse flies had other ideas. A bite turned into a rather dramatic allergic reaction, so it was a trip to the doctors and a course of steroids. Safe to say the horse flies won that battle, but not the war! 🪰😂

The goats have been making the most of the sunshine, soaking up the warm weather and enjoying plenty of attention from our visitors.

The exciting delivery of the week was 66 soft toy goats! They're now being dressed up with our West Barn Pygmy Goats labels and will soon be available to buy on the website and at the farm. I can't wait for you all to see them. ❤️

Next week's goat experiences are a little quieter than normal as I'm off to celebrate a very good friend's wedding at the weekend, while Brian is holding the fort on the farm.

We currently have availability on Monday, Thursday and Friday, so if you've been thinking about coming to meet the goats, now's the perfect time.

And with the summer holidays just around the corner, don't forget we're taking bookings right through to September, so it's a great time to get your visit in the diary.

We're not sure if it's the sunshine, the football, or calendars taking a little holiday... but this week we've had six no-shows for goat experiences. 🐐☀️⚽

The goats don't seem to understand why their visitors haven't arrived. They were all ready, the veggies were prepped, and they were expecting plenty of fuss!

Our weekend sessions are nearly always fully booked, often months in advance, and we regularly have people hoping for a last-minute space.

If your plans change, please just let us know. We're more than happy to move your booking, offer a voucher or arrange a refund, as long as it's 48 hours before your experience. That gives us enough time to offer your place to someone else.

A quick message makes all the difference.

The goats promise not to hold a grudge... although they may expect a few extra carrots next time. 🥕

"Do you have any other animals on the farm?"

The answer is... yes! The goats are just the tip of the iceberg. 🐐

Alongside our pygmy goats, we also have:
🐑 200 ewes
🐑 220 lambs
🐄 And let's not forget our 11 strapping Angus cattle.

When people visit for a goat experience, it's easy to think the farm is all about the goats, but behind the scenes there's a whole lot more going on.

And yes, there's only the two of us running it all. Some days it feels like we're spinning a hundred plates, but that's farming. You don't do it because it's a shortcut to making money. You do it because it's a passion, because you love the animals, and because you wouldn't swap this life for anything.

When you go for a night away and you come back it's all ok human time for some goat loving.

This means I stick my face on your knees after I've had a drink, yep wet beard or let's lie on her so she can't go anywhere ever again.

No huffing like a dog with this lot just a lot of over bearing goats.
